The Finnish Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Cancers Cohort (FinHPB) is a cross-disciplinary international research project focused on improving the treatment of HPB cancers in Finland and around the world. The project's primary objective is to create a validated registry of liver, pancreas, and bile duct cancer treatment in Finland between 2000 and 2019. This will be achieved through retrospective data collection that covers all HPB cancer patients who underwent surgery in Finland during that time period.
The FinHPB cohort is a significant project that will produce high-quality surgical registry research worldwide. It will provide answers to several research questions that require large statistical power and could not be accomplished as single-center studies. The FinHPB cohort includes all 6,930 HPB cancer patients who underwent surgery in Finland between 2000 and 2019. We collect publicly available registry data (from the cancer registry, HILMO, Statistics Finland, KELA, and the Finnish Centre for Pensions), as well as detailed clinical variables from patient records, radiology reports, and pathology reports. Pre-operative radiological images and available surgical specimens are also included in the dataset.
