Oulu University Hospital HPB Research Group
Oulu HPB conducts clinical and translational research related to HPB diseases. We combine surgical study questions and data with clinical pathology, metagenomics, medical imaging, and medical physics. Our main research arms are improving early diagnostics, and identifying preoperative prognostic factors for HPB cancers. At the baseline of our research is the FinHPB project, which harbors a nationwide HPB cancer patient cohort.

FinHPB
A multicenter FinHPB-collaborative has been established to conduct large-scale clinical, radiological and clinicopathological studies concerning HPB cancers. The collaborative includes one or two senior consultant HPB surgeons as the local principal investigators (PIs) from all academic centers conducting HPB surgery in Finland, as well as senior consultant GI-pathologists, bodyradiologists and biostatisticians.
